Mr. Bryant K. Ragler

Bryant Keith Ragler transitioned on to Glory on Monday, January 10, 2023, at his residence at the age of 65. He was born in Peoria, Illinois on May 24th, 1957, to Ida Faulkner and Frank Ragler Sr. Bryant is survived by his daughter, Valeesa Ragler (Los Angeles, CA), and his former wife, Valerie Taylor-Ragler (Los Angeles, CA). He is also survived by his siblings and their families David Guthrie (Peoria, IL), Florence Guthrie (Meridian, MS), Genia Bryant (Gardena, CA), Debbie (Andre) Tucker (Gardena, CA), Tyra Wilks (Peoria, IL), Vanessa Ragler (Chicago, IL), Frank Ragler Jr. (Capitola, CA), and Matthew Ragler (Raleigh, NC), his stepmother, Marilyn Ragler (Peoria, IL), his aunts Mary Anderson Faulkner (Peoria, IL), Callie (Ralph) Marshall (Moss Point, MS), Evelyn McMillon (Moss Point, MS), Lucille P. Reed (Riverside, IL), his uncles Wedell Faulkner (Atlanta, GA), Norris (Auwilda) Polk (Moss Point, MS), Gerald (Iola) Polk (Moss Point, MS), John (Mary) Polk, (Tiverton, RI), and Joseph Rollins (Memphis, TN. He will also be remembered by his nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Bryant was predeceased by his mother Ida (Faulkner) Bryant, his father Frank Ragler Sr., his stepfather Benny Bryant, his grandparents Matt and Maggie Ragler, Ira and Gladys Polk, Harvey and Ardelia Rollins, his brother Joshua Ragler, his aunt and uncle Lorraine & Corinthian Smith, and his uncles Joseph Polk, Grady McMillon, and brother-in-law Meredith Wilks. As a child, Bryant accepted Christ as his savior and joined Zion Baptist Church. His current membership was at Word of Faith Christian Center in Peoria, IL. He excelled in athletics and was a 3-sport athlete. In high school, Bryant was a member of the basketball and football teams at Peoria (Central) High School in Peoria, IL. His freshman year on the basketball team helped result in an undefeated season and he graduated from Peoria High School in 1976. From there, Bryant went on to attend Lane College in Jackson, TN. While at Lane, he added his 3rd sport, baseball, to his athletic career and received his bachelor’s degree in 1983. Bryant loved God and valued his family. His outgoing and confident personality along with his passion for sports allowed him to make friends wherever he went. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 20,2023 at Bethel United Methodist Church, 210 N. Richard Pryor Place, Peoria, IL 61605, at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Tyson Parks, Pastor will officiate. Interment will be Private. Arrangements were made especially for the Ragler family and professionally directed by TW Parks Colonial Chapel.
