Bertha Maclin

Bertha Mae Carter Maclin, 90, of Peoria passed away on Saturday April 29, 2017 at 3:25 a.m. peacefully at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born December 08, 1926 to the late John and Tommie Carter in Jackson TN., Madison County. She accepted Christ at the age of twelve years old and faithfully served the Lord until her passing. Bertha was a graduate of Merry High School in Jackson, TN class of 1947. She was united in holy matrimony to Alex Maclin Sr. Out of this union seven sons and one daughter were born. She was a child Evangelist teacher where she and Connie Moody led many boys and girls to the Lord. Bertha was a graduate of the Chicago School of Practical Nursing and after leaving OSF she chose private duty nursing until her retirement. She was preceded in death by her husband of forty four years, two sons Alex Maclin Jr. and Ricky Maclin, Siblings Jim Carter, Hershel Carter, James Edward Carter, Beatrice Carter Cullum, Mary Carter Holmes, Linda Carter, Shirley Carter, John Carter, Ellen Carter Linear and Mary Elizabeth Carter. She leaves to cherish her legacy and loving memories is survived by five sons: Robert (Elvita) Patton of Bowie MD, Stanley (Diane) Maclin of Harrisburg VA., Kenneth (Crystal) Maclin of Peoria, Steven (Gloria) Maclin of Charleston S.C., and Phillip (Chrystal) Maclin of Peoria, one stepson Ronald Williams of Milan Italy; one daughter Lisa Maclin of Peoria, one sister Annie Lou Carter of Jackson TN., daughter-in-law’s Janace Maclin of St. Louis MO., Danice Maclin, and Debbie Maclin, both of Peoria, 29 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends. In addition, she leaves her godsons Edward Shettleworth and Robert Hill. Spiritual daughters: Amelia Nickels, Ola Gallion, Mary Rodgers and Vera Cornish, Spiritual sisters: Ann Purnell, Ann Thomas, Bertha Peters, and Ruth Myles and special friends: Demetra Bolden and Carla Ward. Family will receive friends at 3015 N. Twelve Oaks Dr.. Repast will be at Star of Hope Full Gospel Baptist Church. Bertha will be laid to rest in Lutheran Cemetery. Services will be held on Saturday May 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation commencing one hour prior at Star of Hope Full Gospel Baptist Church. Bishop Joseph Johnson as host Pastor.
