Mr. Charles Miles Sr.

Charles Miles Sr., 85, of Indianapolis, IN, departed this life on September 9, 2024. Charles was born on March 21, 1939, in Thornton, MS to W.D. Miles and Alberta Hines. Charles was a very active Boxer, he also trained others to box. He loved to sing gospel music and sung with several quartets. Charles was a vocalist on the album “New Life”. Charles was a devoted father. Loved to laugh and was very kind. He had a soft spot for his grandchildren who he loved dearly. Charles leaves to cherish his precious memory: eight sons: Charles “Buster” (Jan) Miles Jr. of Peoria, Purvis Miles Sr. of Knoxville, IA, Vincent Miles of Peoria, Charles Miles III of Peoria, Reginald Miles of Peoria, Damara Harris of California, James Miles of Minneapolis, MN, and Kalvin Miles of Aurora, IL; five daughters: Janice Miles of Peoria, Karen Miles, of Naperville, IL, Tammy (David) Lee of Indianapolis, IN, Tasha Harris of California, and Yolanda (James) Robinson – Earl of Surprise, AR; three loving grandchildren which he raised: Martika Miles of Peoria, IL, Mylita (Donald) Miles -White of Peoria, and Purvis (Nakia) Miles Jr. of Nashville, TN; Friend/Caregiver: Vicki Reeves of Indianapolis, IN, and a host of other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom will miss him dearly. Charles in addition to his parents was preceded in death by two wives: Elizabeth Miles and Earlene Crane- Miles; one daughter: Mary Miles; two brothers: Johnny Hines and Eugene Hines. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024, at T.W. Parks Colonial Chapel (201 N. Mac Arthur Hwy Peoria, IL 61605) at 11:00 a.m. with visitation commencing one hour prior at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Charles Brooks will officiate. Arrangements were made especially for the “Miles” family and professionally directed by T.W. Parks Colonial Chapel.
