Mr. Dion L. Irby

Dion Louis Irby, 55, was born on a winter day on December 16th, 1969, to Otis and Birda (Tramell) Irby. Born and raised in Peoria, IL residing on 2011 W Wiswall St. He passed away at Sharon Health Care Tuesday, September 9th, 2025, at 1:45pm due to medical complications. Dion graduated from Peoria Manual High School on a June day, in 1988. He spent most of his life cutting hair. Known for having the sharpest pair of clippers in the city! Rocking to the sounds of Run DMC. Working at Kelly’s Barbershop on Lincoln Street before opening his shop on Wisconsin street. In his downtime Dion sculpted and crafted statues out of wood and is known for his creative abilities with a host of artwork scattered between friends and family. He will be remembered as a quiet loving brother, uncle and son. With a sly smile and a joke for every occasion. Dion is survived by his Father Otis Irby Sr; four siblings: Otis Irby Jr., Tesa Irby, Lisa Irby, and Myles Irby, and a host of uncles, aunts, nephew, nieces, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother: Birda Irby; maternal grandparents: Roxie and Earnest Trammell; paternal grandparents: Georgia (Richardson) Irby and John Irby Sr., and several loving uncles and aunts. Dion’s visitation service will be held on Saturday, September 20th, 2025, at Sovereign Grace Missionary Baptist Church located at 1505 W Martin Street at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Alvin Riley, Sr Pastor will present words of comfort and a prayer. The family is asking you to wear blue and black to honor Dion Irby. Exodus 35:31-33 and He has filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom and understanding, in knowledge and all manner of workmanship, to design artistic works, to work in gold and silver and bronze, in cutting jewels for setting, in carving wood, and to work in all manner of artistic workmanship.
