Mr. Dominque D. Stringer

Dominque “Dom” Stringer, 30, of Peoria, Illinois, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2025. Born on May 30, 1995, Dominque was the cherished son of Jackie Thurmond and David Stringer Sr., beloved husband of Donsha Stringer, and devoted brother to Dequiez Stringer (his favorite sibling), J’Kayla Thurmond, Tony Glass Jr., Tyreese Glass, David Stringer III, Robert Stringer, and Barbara Stringer. The God son of Auntie Ann March-Bricker. He was the doting grandson of Kaddie Thurmond, with whom he shared a deeply special bond—Dominque was truly a “grandma’s boy,” and their closeness was an inspiration to all who knew them. A 2013 graduate of Peoria High School, Dominque was an incredibly intelligent young man and a standout athlete playing both football and wrestling. He continued his education at Illinois Central College, earning his degree in Automotive Technology in 2023. He then embarked on a career as a Transmission’s Apprentice at Uftring Ford in East Peoria where he brought the same dedication and attention to detail that defined every part of his life. He wanted to go on to be a Master Technician and eventually build his own car. Dominque loved sports and especially THE Ohio State football and Miami Heat basketball. He enjoyed traveling, firing up the barbecue, and simply enjoying quiet moments with his wife. He was inquisitive and enjoyed puzzle games and escape rooms. Dominque was the most loving and giving man. Above all, he wanted to ensure his family thrived and so deeply did he want to see each of them succeed. It was his love for family that defined him most. His heart overflowed with kindness, sincerity, and fierce protection for his loved ones. His generous spirit lit up every room, and his kindness left a mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him. Dominque’s love was his legacy; a legacy celebrated daily in the hearts and futures of those he held dear. Dominque is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Bobbie Barnett; his brother, David Stringer Jr., and his God parents, Deacon John (Linda) Sims, and God father Joseph Bricker. Dominque joins them in eternal peace. A Memorial Service for Dominque will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. with visitation commencing one hour prior at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Ed Johnson will officiate services. Dominque will be laid to rest at The Historic Springdale Cemetery.
