Mr. James Whitelow

James H. Whitelow III (Jr), 73, of Peoria transitioned to his heavenly home, Tuesday, April 6, 2021. James, the 2nd of 9 incredible children was born to proud parents James Harrison and Amelia Ellen (Green) Whitelow Jr. on November 26, 1947 in Henning, TN. At an early age James started his employment journey and ultimately started working for Caterpillar Inc. in 1966 and retired on June 1, 1996. After his retirement James held several part-time jobs to keep busy until his health declined. James was a phenomenal bowler and was a prior member of American Bowling Congress and TNBA Bowling Association. He was the first in the family to bowl a 300 game and did not mind letting his siblings know it! James also enjoyed watching westerns, car auctions, Nascar, wrestling, boxing, basketball, and his beloved Chicago Cubs. He loved old school music and would often say: “let me feel that music”, which meant TURN IT UP while riding in the car. James learned about Jesus at an early age thanks to both of his grandfathers. James genuinely loved his nephews and nieces as he did his kids. He fed them, scared them, and gave them all special pet names. They were all loved by their one-of-a-kind uncle James. James leaves to cherish his precious memories: one son: James H (Jennifer) Whitelow IV; two daughters: Felicia L. Whitelow and Tierra L. Taylor; one brother: Kenneth L. (Deb) Whitelow; seven sisters: Edith P. Dillard, Claire (Ron) Walker, Alice J. Pollard, Lois E. Coleman, Betty A. (Billy) Johnson, Mary F. Haywood, and Janice M. Whitelow; ten grand children: Benjamin Dennison, Maranda Cayson, Christopher Whitelow, Trent Sherlock, Cody Long Whitelow, DreLyn Randle Whitelow, Jayleon Cruz, Dyrice Porter, Tylandis Taylor, and Tierica Robinson; eight great grands, a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom will miss him dearly. In addition to his loving parents, he was preceded in death by one son: Couri C. Whitelow. Celebration of Life Services will be held Monday April 12, 2021 at T.W. Parks Colonial Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with visitation commencing one-hour prior at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Deveraux Hubbard of St. Paul Baptist Church will officiate. James will be laid to rest at Swan Lake Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. George Gilbert and the OSF case manager staff for their services rendered above and beyond the call of duty.
