Ms. Janice Cockroft

Ms. Janice Regina Cockroft affectionately known as “Bay Bay” age 58, of Peoria, Illinois transitioned from her earthly life on Tuesday, October 8,2024 within OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois. As the only girl of four children, Janice was born in Peoria, Illinois on December 19,1965 to Mr. Willie Cockroft and Ms. Hattie Lee Cockroft, they survive. Growing up, she was her family’s pride and joy, spoiled in her own right. Janice was educated in the Peoria Public school system where she attended Roosevelt Middle School, Trewyn Middle School and Peoria Central High School. Working diligently to support her family, whom she loved, Janice spent many years as a secretary for a local legal firm, and in the food service industry. Living life on her own terms and commonly known as the life of any party, Janice wasn’t afraid to have a good time and enjoy life in the moment. She was loved immensely by her friends and family, especially her children, her greatest accomplishment. Janice was feisty yet sweet, but as a mother she did what she felt was best for her family. She enjoyed greatly spending time with her children and grandchildren who meant the world to her, especially on holidays and birthdays. Janice will be sorely missed by all, but her legacy will live forever. Janice leaves to cherish her precious memories, her parents, Hattie Lee Cockroft and Willie (Jini) Cockroft; three brothers: Dennis Cockroft, Willie (Jennifer) Cockroft, and Michael Cockroft; two sisters: Wilma Thomas and Crystal Bush; four sons: Jaryan Cockroft, Lemuel Cockroft, Kenyarie Cockroft and Jaleel Cockroft: Two daughters: Essence Shannon and Starr Ross; grandchildren: Anasijah and Ashanti Cockroft, Eliyah Worthy, Shamon Booker Williams, Ja’donis Cockroft, Nehemiah Cockroft, Ka’Morah Cockroft and Omari Nickolas and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, who are going to miss her dearly. Janice was proceeded in death by one daughter: Latoya Powell. Grandmother: Ruby Robinson and a host of aunts and uncles. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024 at Bethel United Methodist Church 210 North Richard Pryor Place, Peoria, IL 61605 at 12:00 a.m. with visitation commencing an hour prior at 11:00 a.m. Repast to follow service. T.W. Parks has been entrusted with the arrangements.
