Mr. Larry Dillard Jr.

Larry Dillard, Jr., affectionately known for his humor, charm, and strong presence, passed away on July 19, 2025, at the age of 60 in Peoria, Illinois. He was born on November 18, 1964, and throughout his life, he remained a pillar of strength, laughter, and love for all who knew him. Larry was the kind of man who could light up any room he entered. Short in stature but mighty in spirit, he was known for his wit, big personality, and that signature “big dog” energy. He was a protector, a provider, and a teddy bear at heart — a gentle giant who carried his family with fierce love and pride. He worked as an apprentice in concrete finishing, always putting his hands and heart into whatever he did. He was also a phenomenal cook who brought people together over meals and good conversation. His style was unmatched — suave, handsome, and confident. More than anything, Larry was deeply family oriented. He was a devoted husband, loving father, uncle, loyal brother, and proud grandfather. Larry shared a beautiful journey of 39 years with his beloved wife, Raynell Dillard — 21 of those in marriage. Together, they built a family rooted in love, laughter, and resilience. Larry is survived by his father, Larry Dillard, Sr.; his loving wife, Raynell Dillard; his sons Alphonso Dillard, Ivan Dillard, and Landyn Dillard (Damara Dillard); his daughters Lasashai Dillard (Vernon Jackson), Sanashai Dillard, and Laricia Dillard; his brothers David Dillard, Robert Dillard, and Danny Dillard; his sister, Yvetta King. He also leaves behind a host of cherished grandchildren, close friends, and extended family who adored him. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Beverly Dillard, his brother Michael Malone and his son, Monterrius Dillard, Sr. A Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Bethel United Methodist Church, 210 N Richard Pryor Place, Peoria, IL 61605. The funeral service will begin immediately afterward at 11:00 AM. Rev. Tyson T. Parks III, Pastor will present the eulogy.
