Mrs. Minnie Roberson Washington

Mrs. Minnie Roberson Washington, 75, of Peoria IL passed at 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 25th, 2024, Christmas morning, at OSF Richard Owens Hospice Center. Minnie was born on November 5th, 1949, in Lexington, MS. to Dillard and Mattie M. (Johnson) Brown Jr., they, precede her. Mrs. Minnie married Freddie Washington June 20, 1999, on Father’s Day, he survives. Minnie graduated from Peoria Central High School and worked at City Hall after graduating; and later pursued an LPN nursing degree at Illinois Central College. Minnie went on to work for Proctor Hospital, The Red Cross, and ended her career retiring from Planned Parenthood. Mrs. Minnie was a hard worker who continuously worked from High school to retirement. She was a selfless, caring, fun-loving, and generous person. Minnie was an angel sent whenever circumstances arose, willing and able to help at unexpected times. Her caring aid was for so many, too many memories to count, she will be missed. Mrs. Minnie confessed Christ at an early age at New Morning Star. M.B.C. Mrs. Minnie, in addition to her loving husband, leaves to cherish her precious memories to her two sons: Duane L. Brown of Albuquerque, NM, and Antionio (Mary) Brown of Peoria; an adopted son Vincent P. Broom of DeKalb, IL; two adopted daughters: Virginia Broom of DeKalb, IL and Katrina Broom of Peoria; seven grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren; three brothers: Dillard Brown III, Louis Brown both of Peoria, and Willie James (Jean) Brown of Baton Rouge, LA; two sisters Jeanette (Clarence) Walton of Lancaster, SC and Teresa McPhearson of St. Paul, MN, one aunt, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and many friends. Mrs. Minnie, in addition to her parents, is preceded in death by stepfather: Fred Keyster; one brother: Ricky Brown; one niece Tamela Brown. Mrs. Minnie’s Homegoing Services will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025, at New Morning Star M.B.C. (406 W. John Gwynn Jr. Ave Peoria, IL 61605) at 11:00 a.m. with visitation commencing one hour prior at 10:00 a.m. Pastor/Teacher Cleveland Thomas Sr., will officiate and present the eulogy. Mrs. Minnie will be laid to rest at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens. Repass following burial will be at New Morning Star M.B.C.
