Miss. Nakeba S. Rutherford

Nakeba S. Rutherford, 40, of Dunlap, Illinois, was a very hard worker and had a smile that could light up a room. She loved listening to all genres of music with family and friends. She knew the name of every song and would sing and dance with loved ones. Nakeba made a commitment to Christ at a very young age. Nakeba entered heavens gates at 12:04 AM on March 13, 2024. Born to Leatha Augusta and Charlie Rutherford on March 28, 1983, in Peoria, Illinois. Nakeba is preceded in death by her father Charlie Rutherford, brother Gary Rutherford, and Mother Ms. Leatha Augusta whom she loved dearly. Nakeba leaves to cherish her memories and is survived by her Aunt/Mom whom she called “Gram-ma” Brenda Jones (who raised her), six brothers Quennel Augusta, Donkeitha Augusta both of Galesburg, Illinois, Andretti Rutherford, Darris Miller, Willie Venable Sr., Sean Rutherford, of Peoria, Illinois, six sisters Andreana Rutherford of Dunlap, Illinois, Laquita Miller of Racine, Wisconsin, Catina Jones and Brenshevia Wilson of Peoria, Illinois, Cosheka (Michael) Hughes of Georgia, and Tracy Rutherford-Dean of Memphis, Tennessee. Nakeba also leaves to cherish her memory two nieces and a nephew who she helped raise, Samiya Clark, Ariyah Venable, and Willie Venable Jr. Nakeba had a host of many other loved ones with a close bond, with her niece Alexis Morris, best friend Latrika Smith, and Goddaughter LaKayla Smith whom she also helped raise. Alexis, Latrika, and Nakeba were practically inseparable throughout their lives. From traveling together to dancing and singing in the car, they were together through it all. Nakeba was passionate about the work she did in helping take care of many of the children in the neighborhoods from Illinois to Indiana to Alabama to Texas. Nakeba was a devoted friend and knew no strangers! She leaves precious memories for many cousins, family members, countless children, and friends in Illinois, Indiana, Alabama, and Texas. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on March 23, 2024, at T.W. Parks Colonial Chapel at 2:00 with visitation commencing one hour prior at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements were made especially for the Rutherford family and professionally directed T. W. Parks Colonial Chapel. Nakeba Interment is private.
