Mr. William E. Robinson

William Earl Robinson, 78, of Peoria, departed this life on Monday, May 13, 2024, peacefully at his residence. William was born on March 3, 1946, in Ruleville, MS, to the late David and Estella Jones, who both preceded him in death. William married his forever love, Serelda G. Robinson, on April 15, 1967, in Boston. William remained faithfully by her side until she departed this life in March of 2002. Their daughter Christine solidified their love story. At the age of 16, William moved from Mississippi to Boston, MA. It was there where he began working for a family-owned restaurant until he found a managerial position at the “Sugar Shack”. Shortly after he decided to become a truck driver working for ExxonMobil for eight years, he then began driving for St. Johnsbury Trucking Company. With the support of his loving wife Serelda, he and his family decided to relocate to Peoria, IL, where they opened a restaurant called “Robinson’s Old Fashion Barbeque”, operating for four years until trucking life was back on the table. William then made the decision to become an independent trucking contractor. While living in Peoria, William came to know Christ after the passing of his wife. In later years he would rededicate his life to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. (To God Be the Glory- AMEN!) William was the sixth born of ten siblings. He was proceeded in death by his parents: David and Estella Robinson; siblings: Augustas Robinson, Ethel Lee Robinson. Emily Robinson, Bryson Robinson, Blanch McDaniel, and a very special mention to his brother-In-law, William T. Barron III. William leaves to cherish his most precious memories his daughter: Christine S. Robinson-Porter, (Michael D. Porter) of Peoria, two grandsons: Aaron W. M. Porter of Boston, MA and Michael D. Porter II of Peoria, and siblings: Hattie Cockroft, Geneva Robinson, and Juanita Duncan all of Peoria, Carol Robinson and Lawrence Robinson Jr. of Boston, MA; special honorable mention: Henry Barron brother-In-law of Maryland and in-laws: William T. Barron Jr. and Gertude S. Barron. with a host family, friends and associates who will always remember his bigger than life smile and laugh. The stories he would share about the past and all the wisdom he leaves with so many. William was one person you could count on. He believed in family first and would always go that extra mile for anyone! He had a heart of gold and was no one you wanted to play with when it came to the ones he loved (with love). Celebration of Life Services will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Bethel United Methodist Church, 210 N. Richard Pryor Place in Peoria, IL. Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. with the service following at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Tyson Parks will host and present the Eulogy. Flowers, donations, and condolences may be offered at Bethel United Methodist Church. Arrangements were made especially for the “Robinson” family and professionally directed by T.W. Parks Colonial Chapel. William will be laid to rest at Lutheran Cemetery.
