Ms. Wilma Jean Jackson

Wilma Jean Jackson, 71, of Peoria, IL, departed this life at 11:12 a.m. on Monday, February 7, 2022, at OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center, Urbana, IL. She was born July 27, 1950, in Peoria, IL to the proud parents, Willard & Sellian Roddy who preceded her in death. She attended the Peoria Public School District starting her education at McKinley Grade School and continued to Peoria Manual High School where she graduated. Wilma was employed with Caterpillar in Mossville retiring after 42 years of employment as of 2010. Wilma confessed Christ at a young age in Peoria Morning Star Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Calvin Hightower. She was married to Eddie Jackson, Sr., June of 1969, officiated by Rev A. Abbot of St. Paul Baptist Church. Wilma continued attending Morning Star Baptist Church until she converted and became a Member of Bethel United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Choir, Outreach Program, Food Pantry, as well as attended Bible Classes faithfully. Wilma wore many hats of responsibility and was a pillar of the church. She enjoyed family reunions and spending time reminiscing about the good old days and times with family. She enjoyed movies, especially the Hallmark & Lifetime movies. We all know how she also loved her action movies as she would laugh and talk out as if she was in the movie. Wilma enjoyed going on vacation with her son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren; even traveling with her grandson Dion in 2016 to 7 Countries of Europe with the Illinois Ambassadors of Music Band for Centennial High School in Champaign, IL. Wilma leaves to cherish her memories to the father of her sons: Eddie Jackson, Sr. of Peoria, IL. One son: Weddie (Zanisha) Jackson, Sr., one grandson Dion, one granddaughter Zhariya all of Champaign, IL. One sister: Gwendolyn (Melvin) Carter of Peoria. One brother: Laurence Roddy, Sr. of Peoria, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Wilma was also preceded in death by one son Eddie Jackson, Jr., three sisters Willa Mae Smith, Sellina Ewing & Patricia A Roddy, two brothers Willard Roddy, Jr. and Vincent Edward Roddy. Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at 11:00am at Bethel United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held two hours prior at 9:00 am. Pastor Tyson Parks will deliver the Eulogy. Interment will be at Springdale Cemetery. Online condolences and acknowledgements can be made to twparkschapel.com.
