Mr AV Adams Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

AV Adams, 82, of Peoria passed away peacefully at his residence at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, Nov 1, 2014. He was born on February 2, 1932 to the late Abe Adams and Savannah Grayson in Rosedale, MS. AV was married to the late Dorothy Adams (Anderson) for 46 years. She precedes him. AV was the anchor of his family and enjoyed life. He was a natural athlete and a man of character who was one of the best pool shooters around. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and playing cards. He was honorably discharged from the US Army in 1953 and a member of the American Legion Post #1151. AV was retired from Pabst Blue Ribbon for 22 years, later working for the Peoria Area Food Bank for 9 years. He leaves to cherish his precious memories, two sons Samuel Scott of China and Stanley Adams of Peoria, Ill.; one daughter Alice Fay (David) Adams, one god son Tony (Juanita) Foster, seven grandchildren Christopher Adams, Chautauqua Hightower, Kinan Adams, Sean Adams, Kameron Adams, Ana Adams and Samuel Adams all of Peoria, nine great-grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends who adored him and will miss him dearly. AV was preceded in death by his wife, three brothers and seven sisters. The family would like to give a special thanks to Illinois Cancer Care Center, Methodist Hospice, and all of the family and friends who made his last days comfortable. A home-going celebration will be at 12 noon. Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, at Mt. Zion MB Church, with visitation commencing one hour prior at 11 a.m. Pastor Keith McDonald will officiate. Interment for AV will be Monday, Nov 10, 2014 in Camp Butler Nation Cemetery. Arrangements were made especially for AV's family and professionally directed by T.W. Parks Colonial Chapel.
