Mr James Tiggs Nelson Samuels Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

James Tiggs Nelson Samuels, 67, of Peoria, Ill., passed away at 5:37 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center. He was born December 20, 1946, in Peoria, Ill.., to Charlie Samuels Sr. and the late Lucy Mae Samuels. He married Donna Rogan of Peoria in 1971. James was a loving brother and friend who leaves to cherish his loving memories his father Charlie Samuels Sr. of Peoria; four brothers, Charlie Samuels Jr., of Washington D.C; Richard Samuels and Steven (Audrey) Samuels both of Peoria and Patrick Samuels Danville, Ill.; three sisters, Sandra Samuels of Waukegan, Ill., Dawn Hoyle of Peoria, and Patricia Samuels of Absecon, NJ.; four grandchildren Chrystopher Wilson, Sean Stein, Pierre Nelson and Peter Nelson; several great grandchildren along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends who loved and will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his mother Lucy Mae Samuels; both paternal and maternal grandparents; one son Peter Akim Nelson, one brother, one sister and special friend Melanie Matthews. . Homegoing service for James will be held Friday, January 31, 2014 at T. W Parks Colonial Chapel located at 201 N. MacArthur Hwy., Peoria at 2 p.m. with visitation commencing one hour prior at 1 p.m. Pastor E. Eugene Edwards will officiate services.
