Johnny McDonald 82 of Peoria passed away at 11:08 p.m. Wed. August 26, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family.He was born February 13, 1933 in Beloit Mississippi to the late James McDonald and Rosabella (Lewis) Triplett. Johnny moved to Peoria IL. in 1941. He married Lela Johnson in 1955 in Peoria for 60 years and she survives. Johnny was a Charter Member of the American Legion Post No. 1151 and Progressive Golf Club. He loved to fish, golf, bowl, making airplanes, working puzzles, and children’s bicycles in the neighborhood. Johnny worked for Caterpillar for 33 years he retired in July 1982. He also proudly served his country in the Korean War. Johnny leaves to cherish his most precious memories; three sons, Bobby (Vicki) McDonald, Johnny McDonald Jr., both of Peoria and Terry (Toni) McDonald of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Two daughters; Pamela (Lafayette) Johnson of Peoria and Cynthia Gaines of Stone Mountain Ga., 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 1 great great , grandchild. Two brothers; James (Phyllis) McDonald of Peoria, and Leo (Mattie) McDonald of Battle Creek, Michigan, Three sisters Annie Woods, Betty (Marion) Lampkin, and RoseMary (Mark) Clemmer all of Peoria. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other family members. Also best friends Melvin Little and Harold Potts of Peoria, and special caregivers, Pam Johnson, and Bobby McDonald. Along with his parents he’s preceded in the by three sisters and two brothers. Services will be held on Saturday Sept. 5, 2015 11:00 a.m. with visitation commencing one hour prior at 10:00 a.m. at T.W. Parks Colonial Chapel Pastor Terry McDonald son of Johnny will officiate Johnny will be laid to rest in Camp Butler Cemetery in Springfield IL.
