Overseer Liehue Rutherford, 89, of Peoria, IL departed this life on April 25, 2021 at Unity Point Methodist Medical Center at 6:25 a.m. Overseer Liehue Rutherford was born January 29, 1932 in Blue Mountain, MS to the late Hubert and Martha Talley Rutherford. He moved to Peoria, IL in 1951 where he met Nellie Mae Johnson. They were united in marriage September 7, 1952 and were married for 39 years when she made her departure from earth to Glory. To that union, five children were born: Danice Maclin, Kathy (Ted) Smith, Donna (Ron) Jamison, all of Peoria, IL, Herbert Rutherford of Dallas, TX, and Michael (Barb) Rutherford of Jamesville, WI. On April 25, 2009 he married Pastor Ruth Russell. In this union, he gained four stepchildren: Price (Monica) Russell, Steve (Charmane) Russell, Tracy (Breon) Edgerson, and Charles (Kishana) Russell. He leaves precious memories to cherish by many including, all his children, two sisters, Annie Lee Smith of Peoria, IL and Martha Grace Bradford of E. Chicago, IN 17 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Overseer Liehue was last employed by Manor Cadillac, where he was an automobile detailer. Described as one of the best detailers in town, people came from miles around to have their vehicles detailed by him. He later became an entrepreneur in his late 60s to early 70s, maintaining a lawn cutting business, in which his services were in high demand. He accepted Christ in his life at a very young age and received the gift of the Holy Ghost while in Mississippi. He served as Assistant Pastor at the Glorious Church of Jesus Christ under the leadership of his brother Arlander Rutherford for 40 years and then assumed the position of Pastor after the departure of Pastor Arlander in 2012. He was appointed Overseer in the Glorious Church body for the State of Illinois in Richmond, VA on October 6, 2018. He held these positions until God called him home. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and two brothers. Celebration of Life Services will be held Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ 401 Elm Street Peoria, IL 616005 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation commencing two-hours prior at 9:00 a.m. Bishop Azel Colston of Glorious C.O.G.I.C. in Newark, NJ.
