July 16, 1926 - March 6, 2021
My name is Lula Gay Alexander-Williams. I was born July 16,1926, in Cotton Plant Mississippi, to Johnny and Ligirtha (Blackwell) Alexander. Being an entrepreneur, I was a sought-after seamstress, author, home maker, volunteer for the South Side Mission for many years, and was responsible for creating and sending containers of necessities to families in need to Mississippi as well as South Africa. I was the President of the PTA of Douglas Grade School in Peoria, IL. I was also a Mother of the New Life Christian Church formerly known as New Hope International Ministries. Anyone who knew me closely can attest that I enjoyed spending countless hours fishing and gardening. I would like to thank everyone for their prayers, thoughtfulness, and acts of kindness to my family during this exceedingly difficult time. I am preceded in death by my beloved parents Johnny and Ligirtha (Blackwell) Alexander, my ex-husband Monroe C. Williams Sr., two sons Monroe C. Williams Jr. and Ricky J. Williams, and one daughter Pamalor P. Williams; six brothers: Jodi, Robert, Walter, Clifton, Cleo, and Billy Joe Alexander; four sisters: Annie Moore, Maurine Trueblood, Janice Jackson, and Murtis Alexander. I leave to cherish my memories: my four loving children, Reta G. (the late Dorsey) Doss, Janice W. Jones, Randy M. Williams all of Peoria, IL., and Juwanna S. (Derrick) Massey of Grand Prairie, TX; two brothers: Lathaemon (Cubby) Alexander and Bonnie T. Alexander both of Peoria, IL; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, and other family and friends who all loved me dearly. A Celebration of Life Service will be held for me at New Greater City of Refuge on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. with visitation commencing one hour prior at 9:00 a.m. Pastor Spencer Gibson will officiate, and Bishop Timothy Criss will host. I will be laid to rest in Lutheran Cemetery. My family has entrusted T.W. Parks Funeral Home with my funeral arrangements.
