Mable Hoskins

May 26, 1927 - December 4, 2018

Mable Lee Hanson-Hoskins (affectingly known as Lee Lee) ),91, passed away in Peoria, Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Heddington Oaks Nursing Home. She was born May 26, 1927 to Emma Phillips Hanson and Henry Hanson in Holmes County, Tchula, MS. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emma and Henry Hanson; husband, Sam Hoskins; brothers, Jimmie, Earl Lee, Herman, Henderson, David Lee & Morris Hanson; sisters, Willie Hatchett, Fannie (Bae Bae) McCoy & Bernice; son, Sammie J. Hoskins. She confessed her faith in Christ at an early age. She began her formal education in Holmes County, Tchula, MS. Her family later moved to Humphrey County, Belzoni, MS; where she met the love of her life. She was united in holy matrimony on November 10, 1945 to Sam Hoskins. To this union three children were born she also welcomed two more loving, beautiful children into the family; they rose up and called her blessed, they were the delight of her life. Upon moving to Peoria she joined New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Calvin Hightower. She was an active member of the United Usher Board, The Calendar Tea Committee and, other organizations within the church. She later joined St. Paul Baptist Church, Peoria under the leadership of Pastor Deveraux Hubbard; she was an active member until the decline of her health. Her worship was real, her delight was in the law of the Lord and she meditated day and night. She had been a soldier on the battle field fighting for the Lord for many years, her faith was unwavering. From the Mississippi Delta to the bright lights of Peoria, Illinois she was known for her esthetic ability as a hair stylist with a growing hand; she had a great sense for beauty which led her to become an entrepreneur. She owned and operated her own beauty salon for over 50 years. Most clients looked forward to not only getting a fabulous hair style but also delighted in the homemade tasty biscuits and/or sweet potato pies which her husband made fresh and served to clients. After closing her shop she began to work for T.W. Parks Colonial Chapel as an Esthetician & Makeup Artist, there she formed a close loving bond with the co-workers and owner which she called family. Mable had a very nurturing spirit which led her to become a Foster Grandparents through PCCEO, Inc. She had a love for children like no other, in her own words “I love rocking my babies”. She had a zest for life and style; she loved to dress and had to have the most stylish hair styles at all times. When she entered a room her smile would light up a room. She never met a stranger, she loved all. She leaves to cherish her memories; four daughters, Deloris Hoskins -Thelen, Sacramento, CA; Linda Hoskins, Vanessa Harris, Arricka Triplett all of Peoria, Illinois; God-Son; Nathel Williams; God-Daughters; Lisa Mudd McGee; Shonnel Duncan; grandchildren; Kim Hoskins, Andrea Jones, Myel Thelen- Jenkins, Couri Adkisson, Kikanza Harris, Shannon Thelen, Samantha Hoskins-Peitzmeier, Chad Hoskins, Haleigh Hoskins; 12 great grandchildren; many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Services will be held Saturday, December 15, 2018 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church at 11:00a.m. with visitation commencing one hour prior. Pastor Deveraux Hubbard will officiate Mable will be entombed in Springdale Mausoleum.
