Rose E. Henry, 96, of Peoria passed away at 10:11 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2015 at Unity Point Methodist. She was born on May 28, 1918 in Covington, TN., to the late Richard and Hattie (Clemonts) Hall. Rose loved her family and friends. She was not only a faithful member of St. Paul Baptist Church for 60 plus years, she was the head of the kitchen committee. Rose not only loved to cook for God’s souls, she loved to cook for any and every one. She also loved to decorate and work in her garden. Rose is survived by her son, Richard Young of Peoria; two daughters, Hattie (Willie) Lovett of Milwaukee, WI., and Retta Harris of Peoria; three brothers, Willie Hall, Freddie Hall and Eddie Hall all of Danville, Ill.; two sisters, Anna Woods of Danville, Ill. and Nellie Fields of Chicago, Ill.; 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends whom adored and will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Louella Mayes; and 3 brothers. A home-going celebration will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Apr. 25, 2015, at Zion Baptist Church, with visitation commencing one hour prior at 10 a.m. The Rev. Deveraux R. Hubbard will officiate, Rev. Sam Duren as host pastor. Rose will be laid to rest in Parkview Cemetery. Arrangements were made especially for Rose's family and professionally directed by T.W. Parks Colonial Chapel.
