Russell Davis Jr., 73, of Peoria passed away on Friday, April 3, 2015 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center at 10:49 p.m. He was born November 11, 1941 in Bolton, MS., to the late Russell and Maggie (Bell) Davis. He was married to the love of his life Ida (Nathan) Davis for 52 years. She survives. Russell was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a charmer who could beat anyone at a game of Spades. He enjoyed a good meal. Russell was well known and loved by everyone. He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his wife Ida Davis of Peoria, five children, Sammy (Cynthia) Nathan Sr. of Stone Mountain, GA., Debra Mahaffey of Chicago, Ill., Monique Williams, Dava (Thomas) Davis and Trubitary Johnson all of Peoria; four brothers, LV (Alice) Davis of Bolton, MS., James Davis of Raymond, MS., Emmanuel (Mary) Davis of Jackson, MS., and Eugene ( Isabelle) Davis of Clinton, MS.; five sisters, Mary (Earl) Sanders of Bolton, MS., Sophia (John) Kenzy of Salina, KS., Fannie (Albert) Lewis, Odessa Warren both of Bolton, MS. and Betty (Tim) McGee of Clinton, MS. special grandchildren Sammy Nathan Jr., DeMaro Boyd and Jonathan Clark. A host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends whom adored and will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Eric Wilson, daughter, Crystal Davis and three brothers. Home-going celebration will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Apr 11, 2015; at Sovereign Grace Missionary Baptist Church with visitation commencing one hour prior at 9 a.m. Pastor Alvin Riley will officiate. Russell interment will be in Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements were made especially for Russell’s family and professionally directed by T.W. Parks Colonial Chapel.
