Mr. Sammie Ervin

Sammie Lee Ervin Sr., 85, of Peoria, IL passed this life into the next on Tuesday February 8, 2022, at Unity Point Hospital in Peoria, IL. He was born in Drew, MS in Sunflower County to Zack Erving and Sally James on December 18, 1936, both who preceded him in death. He married Leverne Lobdell on May 28, 1959 who was the love of his life. They were married 60 years before she preceded him in death. Sammie was an employee of Caterpillar Tractor Company for 30 years. During his retirement, he enjoyed fishing, junking and spending time with his grandchildren. Sammie leaves to cherish his precious memories: two sons, Sammy Erving Jr and Cornelius Ervin, both of Peoria, IL. Five daughters: Marguerite (Darwin) Gulley, Linda Coatie, Regina (Derrick) Morgan, Pamela Danage, Wanda Ervin-Lear and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins who will miss him dearly. Sammie was also preceded in death by 1 daughter, 8 sisters, and 6 brothers. Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022, at 11:00am at T.W. Parks Colonial Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior at 10:00 am. Pastor Leroy Davis will deliver the Eulogy. Interment will be at Swan Lake Cemetery.
