Mr. Laurence Roddy

LAURENCE RODDY, SR., 62, of Peoria, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 11:46 pm at Carle Health Medical Center. Laurence was born June 16, 1961, in Peoria, IL. to Willard Roddy, Sr. and Sellian (Young) Roddy. Laurence worked many jobs in his life, including Peoria Park District, Tyson Foods, and Supply Chain Services and Solutions. Laurence accepted Christ at a young age at New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Calvin Hightower. Laurence loved sports, especially football. His favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys. He played sports at Peoria Manual High School, where he played football and track and set many records. He was accepted into the High School Hall of Fame here in Peoria for football. He also loved to cook, eat, and listen to music. But his favorite thing was getting together with his family. You could always count on Laurence to make you laugh. He had an infectious smile and laugh that you couldn’t help but laugh just being around him. LAURENCE leaves to cherish his most precious memories: One sister, Gwen (Melvin)Carter, five daughters, Latauron” Tory” Richmond of St. Louis, MO., Lakenya Jones of Kewanee, IL., Marnisha Richmond, LaPorsha (Brandon), Malinda Smith all of Peoria. Six sons, Nick Richmond of Peoria, Laurence Roddy, Jr., Issac Jones, Coby Jones all of Kewanee, IL., Donair” Doe” (Shanesa) Smith of Peoria, Darrese Roddy(deceased), twenty-four grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins and friends whose lives he impacted. LAURENCE was preceded in death by his parents Willard and Sellian Roddy, two brothers, Willard Roddy, Jr., and Vincent Roddy, four sisters, Willie Mae Smith, Selina Ewing, Patricia Ann Roddy, and Wilma Jean Jackson, one son, Darrese Roddy, one granddaughter, Kiamber Beard, one niece, Ingrid Roddy, and one nephew, Eddie Jackson, Jr. Homegoing Service not open to the public. Family and friends. Dr. Patrick Pollard, Sr. of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church will officiate. Repast will be with Family. Services were arranged with care in loving memory especially for Laurence’s family and professionally directed by T.W. Parks Colonial Chapel. Cremation services professionally arranged by T.W.
