Ms. Michelle Elaine Moore

Michelle Elaine Moore, 59, transitioned from this life at home in Clarksville, TN on April 11, 2026, surrounded by her mother, daughter, and brother with whom she lived. Michelle was born in Peoria, IL on February 23, 1967, to Omer Miles and Dorothy Lee Moore, Jr. Michelle attended Peoria High School where she played the violin 1st Chair in orchestra and participated in the choir. She was a lifeguard at Central Pool. She attended Illinois Central College and the University of Maryland, where she earned her Associate Degree in Early Childhood Development. She worked at Springfield Urban League Head Start and many other day cares as a teacher. Michelle loved taking care of babies and young children. She had the most beautiful smile that would melt your heart. Michelle loved everyone and if she could help you, she would. Purple was her favorite color. On February 23, 1993, Michelle gave birth to the love of her life, her daughter Njia Amani Daniels. She moved back from Maryland to Springfield, IL where her brother lived. She gave her life to Christ and served faithfully at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church under Dr. Charles W. Tiner, Sr. Michelle participated in the Bessie Austin Missionary Ministry, Girl Scout Troop Leader, she was in the church choir and always helped where needed. She loved her church family. When she moved to Clarksville, TN, with her brother and sister-in-law; she transferred church membership to Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor Dr. David D. Allen. Michelle leaves to cherish her precious memories: her mother: Dorothy Moore of Peoria; her daughter: Njia Amani (Frank) Cummings of Springfield, IL; Grandchildren: Frank Eli Cummings and Nylah Eve Cummings of Springfield, IL; Great Aunt: Jewell Jangdharrie of Audubon, PA; Godmother: Carol Adams; Aunts: Jacqueline Moore of Philadelphia, PA, Mary (Richard) Mercer of Evanston, IL, Karen (Andre) Williams, Sr of Columbia, SC, Arnita Smith, Brenda McDowell, Evet Malone, Tonet Malone and Deanna Malone all of Peoria, IL. Uncles: Joe (Aunt Tessie) Moore, Darnell E. (Vernita) Seymore of Chicago, IL, and Norman Powe of Philadelphia, PA, Karl Kimbrough of Des Moines, IA, William Malone of Joliet, IL; one brother: Omer(Michelle)Moore of Clarksville, TN; one sister: Marcella (Dean) Rutherford of Madison, TN; Nieces: Courtney N. (Karl) Goss Jr. and Felicia L.(Charles) Peters Jr. of Springfield, IL and Dayja Rutherford of Madison, TN; Nephews: Thomas Michael F. Moore of Peoria, IL, Andre (Joi) Rutherford of North Carolina, Jeremy and Dean Jr. Rutherford of Madison, TN. Great nieces that were close to her: Alana Goss and Ariya Peters, both of Springfield; Special cousins: Thelma Springs, Nancy (Herbert) Hawthorne, Rosie Jangdharrie-Palmer, Carolyn Jangdharrie, and Dr. Kellye Lynn Palmer. She is also survived by a host of cousins, other relatives and friends that are close to her heart. She was preceded in death by her father: Omer Miles Moore Jr., her godfather: Melvin Adams; Grandparents: Omer Miles and Ada Albert Moore, Sr., Rosie Lee Kimbrough, Tommie, and Dorothy Lyles. Great Nephews Eli and Elijah Peters and Great Niece Amaya Peters; Uncles: Gilbert Coble, James Kimbrough, Benjamin Moore, Homer Moore, Charles, George, Michael and Ronnie Smith; Aunts: Kathleen Carter, Bessie Estelle Coble, Beverly Dillard, Le June Kimbrough, Jewell Lacy, Larcenia Perry, Mary Ellen Powe, and Beverly Sue Watson. Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026, at New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church (413 John H. Gwynn Jr. Ave Peoria, IL 61605) at 11:00 with visitation commencing one hour prior at 10:00. Pastor Cleveland Thomas will host, and Pastor Steven A. Welch of Mount Sinai SDA Church will officiate. Michelle Moore will be interned at Swan Lake Cemetery. Arrangements were made especially for the “Moore” family and professionally directed by T.W. Parks Colonial Chapel.
