Mrs. Queenie C. Parks (Emmerson), 76, of Peoria, IL, passed away on March 10, 2024, at Advocate South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, IL. Queenie was born July 4, 1947, in Gunnison, MS. to Everneal and Eliza (Moore -Warfield) Emmerson. Queenie married Jacob Parks, July 13, 1971, in Peoria, IL. he preceded her in death on September 2, 2006. Queenie attended Manual High School and Illinois Central College, she worked for Caterpillar, and she retired from Bradley University. She was a member of Nora Field Taylor Temple #270, she was the Past Daughter Ruler, and Directress of the Beauty and Talent for many years. She was also an Avon Representative for many years. She was also known for many fashion shows. Queenie was an active member of Friendship Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Claude Russell, where she sang in the choir. Queenie was a very caring person and flamboyant lady; she was known for her beautiful clothing and high heel coordinating shoes. She loved shopping and spending time with her family and going to the casinos. Queenie leaves to cherish her memories her daughters: Sonya (LeRoy) Linwood Jr. and Erica (Quincy) Trapp both of Peoria, IL and her grandsons: Nicho’lous R. Parks of Denver, CO, Jordan L. Linwood-Parks and Quentin J. Parks of Peoria, IL, one granddaughter Ciara Q. Parks of Peoria, IL and one great-grandson Antonio Parks. Stepdaughter, Brenda Jackson of Chicago, IL and Stepson, Maurice Parks of Chicago, IL. One godson Eluster Sampson of Memphis, TN. One goddaughter Tammika “Tammi” Evans of Peoria, IL, One nephew Kenneth Emmerson of Peoria, IL. Great nieces: Chittaun (James) Walker, Danelle (Frederick) Sheard, and Markeisha Harper all of Peoria, IL. Great nephew: Aubrae M. Harper of Peoria, IL. and several other nieces, nephews, grandchildren and God grandchildren. Also, preceding Queenie in her death are her parents, grandmother Lillie M. Clay, four sisters Lillie M. Faulkner, Clara M. Reed, Ernestine Harper and Delose Emmerson and niece Jacqueline Harper. Queenie’s Celebration of life Service will be at held on March 22, 2024, at Church of Living God of Peoria at 11:00 with visitation two hours prior at 9:00 a.m. Bishop Leroy Smith Jr. will officiate, and Pastor Willie Lee Williams Jr. will give the eulogy. Arrangements have been entrusted to T.W. Parks Colonial Chapel in Peoria, IL. Queenie will be laid to rest at Parkview Cemetery of Peoria, IL.
